Mending and Stitching with Sashiko Embroidery

With humble beginnings in 17th c. Japan, the bold, geometric beauty of Sashiko embroidery continues to strengthen and decorate fabrics all across the world. Using Sashiko’s "small stabs” technique, you’ll choose between mending a personal item, or stitching designs onto a small square to be used as a coaster. We’ll discuss the origins of Sashiko, its uses in everyday objects and textile arts, and the inspiration and symbolism of its design motifs. Sign up here!
